NAC contributes to the production of glutathione, which is part of one of the body's most important antioxidant systems. NAC is a form of the amino acid cysteine that is well absorbed in the body. Cysteine is required for the enzyme reaction that creates glutathione.

Cysteine and glutathione – a powerful combination

Glutathione protects cells from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. It is also strongly linked to the body's detoxification system, with high concentration in the liver.
