Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its delicious flavor and yellow color. It has also been used in India for centuries as a medicinal plant due to its main active ingredient - curcumin. However, curcumin only makes up 3% of turmeric and it would be nearly impossible to consume enough curcumin by seasoning food to achieve all the maximum health benefits.
