Why are vitamin C and potassium so important?

If you exercise, an additional intake of 200 mg of vitamin C (in addition to the RDI) contributes to maintaining the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise. Potassium and vitamin C contribute to the normal function of the nervous system. Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and to maintaining normal blood pressure.

Vitamin C helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue and to protect cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal psychological function and the healthy functioning of the immune system.

Vitamin C helps to regenerate the reduced form of vitamin E and increases iron absorption. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation, which is important for the normal function of blood vessels, the normal function of the skeleton, the normal function of cartilage and gums, and the normal function of the skin.

The highest concentration of vitamin C in the body is found in the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands also help to regulate blood pressure and mineral balance.
