Why are vitamin C and potassium so important? If you exercise, an extra intake of 200 mg of vitamin C (in addition to the RDI) contributes to maintaining the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise. Potassium and vitamin C contribute to the healthy functioning of the nervous system. Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and to maintaining normal blood pressure.

Vitamin C helps to reduce fatigue and exhaustion and helps to protect the cells from oxidative stress. Vitamin C contributes to normal energy metabolism, to normal psychological function and to the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin C helps to regenerate the reduced form of vitamin E and increases iron absorption. Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation, which is important for the normal function of the blood vessels, the normal function of the bone structure, for the normal function of the cartilage and gums and for healthy skin. The highest concentration of vitamin C in the body is found in the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are also involved in regulating blood pressure and mineral balance.
